New Year's Eve 2009/2010 Part 3
Part 3.
We decided to stay put for about 15 minutes before trying to move as the place appeared to be packed. Eventually we got through and decided to head for Buzz Light Year. We were lucky that there was only a 5 minute wait so we all had great fun trying to out do each other with the best scores. We then sauntered over to Space Mountain. As this ride has been closed for a few months and has been upgraded, it was inevitable that there was going to be a long wait and when we arrived it was 60 minutes so we all decided we would give it a miss for the time being. As it was time for all good children to be in bed, we headed towards It’s a Small World. Brilliant as we walked straight onto it with no wait whatsoever. Peter Pan alas still had a 45 minute wait and just when you thought all the kids had gone home. No chance.
A visit to Magic Kingdom would not be complete for me without a ride on Thunder Mountain, so that was the next stop and by now it was well past 0100 so we walked straight on. This ride always gives me a thrill and definitely not disappointed. We decided to by pass Splash Mountain as we really did not fancy getting even the tiniest bit wet at that time of night.
As we walked towards the exit, we were surprised to find members of the Disneycast were offering free hot chocolate and cookies. You could tell it was the end of the evening as we all ended up being given 6 cookies each! ! ! ! Feeling refreshed, there was time to do one more ride which was Pirates of the Caribbean and then we headed towards Main Street for a final look at the beautiful fairytale castle. The crowds were dispersing and the lights along Main Street were just enchanting.
Heading home, we all reflected on our evening, and we all agreed, we could not have spent a better New Year’s Eve anywhere. We also reflected that we may have been one of the oldest couples still to be in the Park at 0200 being 65 and 72 respectively. It just goes to prove that it doesn’t matter how old or how young you are, Disney is a magical place for everyone. Well done Walt Disney. Look forward to New Year' s Eve this year!
