NEW FANTASYLAND - MAGIC KINGDOM part 1
I seems such a long time since Disney first announced the transformation of Fantasyland and although the construction has been going on for a couple of years it has been well worth waiting for.
Friends of ours had been to Magic Kingdom a couple of months previously and they gave us some tips for our next visit. These included get there as early as possible at opening time if you can get everyone up in time. Strangely we never seem to have the same problems getting the girls up in Florida as we do at home when they have to go to school!
They also said head straight to Fantasyland and make the maximum use of your Fastpasses. If you want to eat at the Be Our Guests restaurant book as soon as possible but still be prepared for some queuing.
We got there as the Park opened and once inside Magic Kingdom we went straight to the Train Station by the entrance. There was quite a queue but we managed to get on the first train that came along.
We always enjoy this journey in fact when my parents are tired they often just sit on the train and have a couple of rides around Magic Kingdom whilst they relax! On the way to Fantasyland you pass Thunder Mountain and the Indian Reservation the latter reminding us of the early settlers in Florida.
Once we got to Fantasyland station we met the first of the crowds and we were amazed by the amount of people that were already there and the general level of excitement as parents tried to hold onto their little ones who were captivated by all that was around them.
You enter through a huge Welcome sign and are immediately struck by the colourful boards advertising the Circus. We headed straight for Dumbos as there was quite a wait so we decided to get Fastpasses.
Whist we waited for our Fastpass time we went to Pete’s Silly Sideshow to meet Minnie and Daisy as well as Goofy and Donald. There was a wait for this but it was well worth it with great photo opportunities. Then back to Dumbo which we all really enjoyed soaring up in the air.
We had left our villa very early with only time for a drink and no one had eaten anything so we decided to take advantage of the sideshow tents one selling Pretzels and the other Hot Dogs. There was a good outdoor eating area here where we ate our food.
My Mother and I headed for the Souvenirs Tent whilst Grandad took the girls for the Barnstormer Ride where the wait was not too long.
We joined them after their ride after dodging the Character Showers and headed off through the Storybook Circus to explore the rest of Fantasyland. More of this in Part 2.
