What’s so great about Epcot 4
So in Part three we learned all about how energy is created with the hilarious Ellen as we travel back through time and then forward to the future well this time we are going to travel through space in the attraction ' Mission Space'.
Mission Space is a simulation of space travel that is close to the training simulation that NASA use to train astronoughts for space travel, you are about to take a journey to Mars the ' Red' planet. You start your training at Planetary Plazza where you will see quotes from many inspirational people.
From here you make your way to the simulation lab which is a 35 foot gravity wheel just like NASA' s, there is also one of the very rare genuine lunar rovers in existence on show for you to look at, soon you pass the glass fronted control centre with the control room staff will be controlling you space flight. At this point you will be allowed to leave the mission if you wish where you can meet up with the rest of you crew after their mission has landed back on earth.
If your one of the brave cadets who decide to continue with your mission then you can choose from 2 levels of intensity either the orange or green team, the orange team use a centrifuge to create G Forces the is the very same process as used by NASA or you can choose the lower intensity Green team which uses a simple motion simulation, this does not spin and if you suffer from motion sickness at all I would recommend the green Team.
Soon you will be boarding but before you will be briefed on your mission as you travel on the X-2 Deep Space shuttle, each of the four man crew will have to choose an important role navigator, engineer pilot or commander. (I was the pilot).
Each member will then receive personalised instructions on their role within the mission and the critical sequences that you must perform for your mission to be a success, once you board your vessel get to your seat quickly and strap in tight and prepare to carry out your role within the crew.
This ride more than ever other is very very realistic the centrifuge really recreates the G forces that any astronaut feels as he goes into space its weird because although you know you' re not really in a space ship if truly feels like you could be as your feel the forces pushing down on you in take off.
Make sure you do your part within the duty you were trained for and then enjoy the ride back home to earth, enjoy your flight!
