Wet 'n' Wild
Situated on International Drive Wet ‘n’ Wild is one of Orlando’s older water-parks. The park has been expanding over the last few years and now houses some of the best water rides in Florida.
Wet ‘n’ Wild has over 17 water rides for you to choose from, some fast and energetic to the more slow lazy river type of ride. Prices for a day pass into Wet ‘n’ Wild are around $33, although for better value I would suggest purchasing a flexi ticket which gives you access into Sea World, Universal and Busch Gardens.
There are many rides to go on and making your mind up can be hard at times, one thing is for certain it is a full day’s activity and when the weather is nice you don’t mind standing around in the long queues to get on them. It is always best to arrive early at Wet ‘n’ Wild to get a car park space and sometimes this allows you to get on the more popular rides as there are no queues.
My favourite ride is the disco H20 ride. Here you go back in time to the 1970 where you are bombarded with cool disco sounds before dropping through the bottom and through a waterfall. There are many thrill water rides here with the old, but still very impressive Stuka, a six storey free fall drop on an almost vertical slide. This is one of the highest water rides in Florida.
Next door to the Stuka is Bomb Bay, where you are used as a human bomb. This ride has a trap door which opens and you end up dropping 75ft down a vertical slide. Other thrill rides include the storm, wake zone, Mach 5 and the renowned hydra fighters (where you spray jets of water on other opponents).
If you don’t like the trill of water rides there is a large area to sunbath and there is a large pool which has a built in wave machine. If you don’t fancy doing anything why not take a trip on the lazy river and just float around all day.
I would rate Wet ‘n’ Wild a must do day out while you are on holiday in Orlando. In peak season it can get very busy, but if you don’t mind getting out of bed early and getting there when the gates open it can be a very good day out. For the amount of rides and their quality I would have to rate it above Blizzard beach.
