Smokey Bones Bar And Fire Grill
We like to try a new restaurant every time we go to Florida and we normally do this when visiting our relatives who are Florida residents. This time we went to Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill in Brandon but enjoyed it so much that we were really pleased to find out that there is a local restaurant in Kissimmee.
The Smokey Bones restaurants are designed to resemble a country lodge, with rustic fires and lanterns adorning the interiors. There is a large bar, which you can eat at as long as you don’t have children with you. We choose to sit in two of the wooden booths (one for the adults and one for the 3 teenage boys). There are large flat screen TV’s on the walls with guests favourite shows, various music videos being shown and of course the obligatory sports programmes being shown. The staff were all welcoming and attentive throughout our meal providing plenty of re-fills of sodas for the teenagers.
We started our meal with a selection of starter’s including two servings of the Pretzel Bones which are soft pretzel sticks that are lightly buttered and salted and served with a sweet honey mustard, creamy queso and garlic parmesan dipping sauces. We also opted for the ‘Smoke Rings’, which were a jumbo serving of onion rings in a beer butter batter and again served with the sweet honey sauce – they were just delicious and everyone soon tucked in and they were finished in no time at all. A side salad was also ordered just so that we could say that we had eaten something healthy as well.
The teenagers opted for various items including smoked wings and a classic burger excluding any salad. Our son soon tasted one of the wings and loved it so much that for the rest of our holiday ordered wings everywhere else we went. I opted for the Mini Beefies for my main entrée which was a trio of bite size beef burgers, fire grilled and brushed with a sweet glaze, sautéed onions and then a slice of melted American cheese together with a side of fries. Dear husband opted for the full rack of Baby Back Ribs, which apparently are seasoned, marinated and then hickory smoked for nearly four hours. They must have been good as he ate all of them!
There was so much food I couldn’t eat all of mine however, we paid the bill and then headed off home to have a coffee and then ice-cream to finish off the evening.
