Raglan Road - Irish Pub And Restaurant
It’s coming up towards the later part of our holiday now and we have been joined for a couple of days by our relatives who live close to Tampa. They have always wanted to eat at Raglan Road at Downtown Disney so that is where we decide to head to on a Saturday night in August without having an Advance Dinner Reservation.
Raglan Road is located at Downtown Disney and it is authentic Irish Pub, that was actually built entirely in Ireland and shipped to Disney in Florida. We quickly find a parking space and start to walk through Pleasure Island and we arrive at the entrance to be told that there will be a one and a half hour wait however, when we ask for 2 separate tables (1 for the adults and a separate 1 for the teenage boys then the wait drops down to 40 minutes. While waiting for our table we look around the shop and the teenagers buy a few small items. Within 20 minutes we are called to our table only to find that both tables are next to each other.
The drinks are ordered with a couple of the adults having cider and another having the flight of 4 taster beers which are served in small glasses on a wonderful wood serving tray.
Whilst we all study the menu our soda bread with a honey dipping sauce arrives, this was just delicious and I could have had this for my main entree.
The majority choose the fish and chips with the fish being covered in a beer batter. I opted for the ‘Flat Mate’ which was a flat bread with Guinness bangers, caramelized onions, tomatoes and Dubliner Cheddar cheese. We also ordered a side of onion rings and crushed garden peas.
The service was quick, our drinks had already been refilled once and we were all soon eating our entree’s. Everyone enjoyed their fish & chips and on the whole I enjoyed my Flat Bread unfortunately none of us had room for desserts.
All of the time we had been eating the Irish Dancers were performing showing everyone how to ‘River Dance’ and even a couple of people had taken the opportunity to have a go as well. The music was provided by ‘Creel’ and was very authentic and everyone was having a fantastic time.
This isn’t a restaurant that you would go to for a romantic meal for two, the music is loud and noisy but it is an ideal place to go to as a family and enjoy a really good night out.
We will certainly be visiting again.
