General Tips For Theme Parks
Some tips to help you get the most out of your day at the Theme Parks.
Where possible buy your tickets before you go to the parks, you will probably get them a bit cheaper but more importantly save time queuing at the Ticketing Booths.
Write down the location where you parked your car,
you will not remember, and some of the car parks are vast.
Plan to be at the park a little before opening time, you could well have been on one ride and in line for another before most people have parked their car!
Ensure you obtain a couple of park maps and show schedules, and plan your next place to head for in advance.
If you are in a group, decide on a place and time to gather if you split up, (an eating place is a good option), also arrange a central location to meet if anyone gets lost.
Shirts and footwear must be worn at all times in the parks (obvious exceptions are the water parks).
If a member of your party is too small to ride, ask an attendant about ‘Child Swap’ - this is a system where you all queue up together, some of your party go on the ride while some stay with the ‘child’ then when they finish you ‘swap’ the child and the remainder of the party ride without the need to queue again.
Avoid eating between noon and 2 pm as the restaurants can get very crowded.
Make good use of the water fountains, it’s more thirst quenching, a lot cheaper and saves queuing for drinks.
Both Disney and Universal have a ‘queue’ saving system at selected rides (the more popular ones) at each of their parks. At Disney it is called Fast Pass and at Universal it’s Express Pass. The Disney Fast Passes are free, you just need a valid Park entry ticket, the Universal Express Pass has to be purchased in addition to a Park entry ticket. Fast Pass (Disney) ~ when you arrive at a ride or show entrance, you can choose to queue and wait the posted ‘wait time’ or obtain a ticket which will give you a window in time (this is about 1 hour or for a specific show time) to return and bypass the ‘normal’ line, typically the time you’ll have to wait when using this system is 5 – 10 mins. Express (Universal) ~ once purchased you will be allowed to use the express lane once on each ride or show that is operating the Express system.
