First trip to Boma restaurant at Animal Kingdom Lodge
Although we have visited Disney World many, many times now over the years you can still find somewhere interesting to visit of exciting to eat and this was proved recently by a trip to Bomers restaurant in Animal Kingdom lodge
One afternoon after spending a hard day relaxing by the pool my wife suggested we try some where different to eat that evening I replied that would be a little difficult as we have been going to Disney now for some 15 years
She said she knew a place that was different to anywhere we had previously eaten as she had had the pleasure of eating there on one of her solo trips earlier in the year , where would that be then I inquired? …. . ” Bomers” in Animal Kingdom lodge. What sort of food do they server there then I asked. Well its sort of African but in a buffet situation. Always up for a challenge I agreed right we would go tonight.
We drove to Animal Kingdom lodge that evening and parked up have never been there before and was impressed with the whole place in general it is and has the atmosphere of a luxury hotel and the decor is in keeping with an African Temple its been very large and dark inside
The restaurant area itself seems very popular with tourist so you book in and you are given a beeper which alerts you when your table is ready, you are then free to explore for a while.
The server took us to our seating area and took our drinks order and then we were free to enter in the true spirit of buffet dining by visiting the buffet area with our empty plates. There were indeed many many different choices from your normal Disney dining some of the choices were indeed quite spicy and hot, not so hot to put you off eating them. If you have experienced an Indian curry then the food at animal kingdom is pretty tame by this standard so no need to worry about the kids.
There were lots and lots of choices to choose from including meat dishes and vegetarian dishes and at least 5 soups my favourite being one made from butternut squash which was quite sweet but very delicious
As with all buffets you can eat all you want and can visit the buffet as many times as you like to the point where all the butter nut squash soup can make you feel rather sickly if you overdo it
Bomers Flavours of Africa was indeed some thing very different for our evening meal and is definitely on my list of places you must visit, the food is deliously different and the setting is fantastic.
