Visit Universal for Half a Day
If you have visited Universal Studios before you will know that visitors to both Universal Orlando theme Parks park in the same parking garage, then walk through CityWalk on their way into the Parks. You need to leave at least half an hour (an hour in the summer) to park and walk to either Park gates. As you walk through CityWalk you bear right for Universal Studios.
We arrive as the Park opens and as the Simpson’s ride has become so popular we tend to go straight there and can usually get on the ride within about 15 minutes. I can assure you it is unusual for the wait to be less than an hour and often it is two hours. The Simpsons ride is housed in the old “Back to the Future” building.
Simpson’s uses 80-foot IMAX screens to give the rider a virtual-reality trip through a cartoon theme park called Krustyland, built by Springfield' s leading TV personality, Krusty the Clown. We take a wild tour of Krustyland with the Simpson’s Family while on Krusty' s Thrilltacular Teen-Operated ride roller coaster in order to save the Simpsons from Sideshow Bob. This really is a great ride and you will see why it is so popular.
We then double back to Jimmy Neutron as the waits usually are not too long early in the day. This is a motion simulator and although a little jerky it sends you on a wild journey through the Nickelodeon Universe. You will see different Nicktoon characters and to be able to visit their worlds, look out for the chicken dance!
Then straight over to Shrek 4D, again the wait is usually short and this story starts as the ghost of Lord Farquaad pursues Princess Fiona on the way to her honeymoon. I won’t spoil it by telling you the rest.
If you like an indoor roller coaster and dark ride go on to Revenge of the Mummy. First time visitors here need to watch the film clips as they set up the story. No matter how many times we ride this we always get a thrill and think it is one of the better indoor coaster rides.
Next we go into the village of Amity, where we go on Jaws. You are welcomed aboard Captain Jakes Amity Boat Tours supposedly a scenic cruise on the island! I love this ride but am still a little scared when three tons of great white fury tries to come aboard.
We then head across the bridge toward Men in Black. A tip if you are ever visiting this alone go to the single-rider line that can cut your waiting time down. No matter how well we fire on this ride my Father always beats us.
Finally we sometimes get time to go to Terminator 2 where you experience live-action stunts, special effects, and 3-D film in this adventure based on the hit films.
Enjoy your morning at Universal we always do.
