Toon Lagoon at Islands of Adventure
At Islands of Adventures Toon Lagoon, there are more than 150 cartoon characters that inhabit this colourful part of the park. As you stroll down Comic Strip Lane you will see Betty Boop, Hagar the Horrible and Krazy Kat to name just a few of the famous residents.
There are some great water rides too. Dudley Do-Right Ripshaw Falls is a log flume ride and a firm favourite with everyone. Jump on a log and hold on to your britches as you help Dudley Do-Right save Nell Fenwick from Snidely Whiplash. This exhilarating water ride will plummet you 75 feet all the way down to the bottom of Ripshaw Falls. You' ll be sure to get wet, so wear a poncho and prepare for a soaking as you actually dip below the water level.
You won' t just get wet on Popeye and Bluto' s Bilge-Rat Barges, you' ll get soaked right through to your underwear! It won' t take long to dry in the Florida sunshine, but there are large human dryers provided that you can stand in and get blast dried. The ride is a great family experience because the rafts are large and round meaning families can all ride together and get wet together! Ponchos and lightweight clothes will greatly help though, so plan ahead. It' s a good idea to remove shoes and socks, you can leave them in the locker and collect them when you' ve dried off. Walking round in damp footwear all day will only cause blisters, so do be careful.
The three main water rides in Islands of Adventure (the above two and Jurassic Park River Adventure) are placed close to each other, so you can do all 3 in one hit, without having to wander around wet for too long.
For something a little less wet, children of all ages can climb aboard Me Ship, The Olive, Popeye' s own colorful ship and explore the three decks filled with passageways, slides to go down and nets to climb up. There' s still some water activity though as the ship has water cannons to shoot at passengers sailing by on the Bilge-Rat Barges below. Adults are also welcome aboard and can try their hand squirting the water cannons. Naughty but nice. Riders on the barges below will get wet on the ride itself, but they' ll get soaked with the cannons shot from above!
There are also crawl spaces and buttons aboard the ship that make plenty of noise and you can attempt to play the Popeye theme tune.
After the excitement and exertion of the rides, it' s a fair assumption that everyone will have worked up an appetite and you couldn' t find yourself in a better location. There are eating places to satisfy everybody' s taste in Toon lagoon all with wonderfully bright and colourful themes. For a quick snack you could try a sampling from Fuddnudder Bros. Popcorn, or munch away on a Chomp Hot Dog. If a meal is more to your liking, try the Comic Strip Cafe for buffet style Asian, American, Mexican and Italian food.
For delicious burgers or chicken pop over to Wimpy' s.
Blondies serves stacked sandwiches made to order and, If you' re feeling hot, cool down with something from Cathy' s Ice Cream.
They all have a selection of mouthwatering temptations that will shatter the determination of the most seasoned dieter!
Throughout Toon Lagoon you will find lots of photo opportunities where you can pose underneath various thought bubbles. There' s lots of merchandise here too. For Betty Boop fans, the Betty Boop Store will be a delight. Gasoline Alley sells beach apparel and Toon Extra has an array of character souvenirs.
Everything about Toon Lagoon is spotlessly clean, very colorful and an absolute must for kids and adults alike.
