Thani Thai Orlando
Thani Thai is located at 11025 International Drive.
Being a lover of Thai food, when a friend asked me to join their party for dinner at Thani Thai recently I jumped at the chance as it promised to be an enjoyable and authentic Thai dining experience.
It was a Friday evening when we dined and we had pre booked as we wanted to ensure we had a booth but as it turned out there were plenty of tables available as the restaurant is a good size and way bigger than your average Thai restaurant.
You can choose from tables on the floor, booths and normal tables, the restaurant itself is very authentic (I say this as I have visited Thailand in the past).
The Thai staff were typically very welcoming and we were greeted with a friendly greeting and showed very quickly to our booth. The servers, both male and female are dressed in authentic Thai costumes and throughout the evening we were treated to performances of traditional Thai dancing by girls in traditional costume, this made the experience even more authentic.
The food was superb and I choose the Tom Yung Gung, which I have in every Thai restaurant I dine in, it is basically a lovely spicy broth with garlic, lemongrass, galangal, mushrooms, Thai spices and prawns. I choose Thai hot as I love this soup spicy and can handle Vindaloo in Indian restaurants) but it was very very spicy indeed, infact it was at the stage where ones lips and throat were tingling! There was another level hotter called firecracker and this was apparently way hotter! Maybe I shall brave that next trip as I can only imagine what that would taste like!
So when the choice came for the main meal I decided to go down one level of heat to medium hot but not quite as mild as medium. So Seafood Adalam was my choice, and it was absolutely lovely and consisted of, mussels, (in shell) prawns, crab, onions and other vegetables plus lots of spices and broth and was served with Jasmine rice.
After these two filling dishes there was no room for dessert on this occasion but there was some lovely things to choose from.
The meal was washed down by Thai iced tea, infact three as two were consumed with the spicy soup and it was just the thing to cool the heat!
The bill for this meal was around $35 which is excellent for a meal with two seafood choices and I shall definitely be revisiting this Thai restaurant when I am back in town!
