Atlanta Bread Company
One of the things we love about Orlando is that there is always somewhere new to try when it comes to eating! You will certainly never starve!
So, on a recent trip to the Super Target on the OBT (Orange Blossom Trail), we noticed the Atlanta Bread Company in the plaza of shops beside Target. We already love Panera Bread, which offers a superb range of fresh baked breads and pastries as well as soups and sandwiches, so we wondered what Atlanta Bread would be like.
Actually, it’s very similar. Their aim is to offer freshly baked bread and food made from the highest quality ingredients, and we think they have succeeded. It’s a pleasant open environment, and the food is served fresh and with a smile. We only wanted an afternoon treat, so we were pleased to see they had a very delicious ‘Bear’s Claw’ on offer. Now if you have never tasted one it has nothing to do with grizzlies or anything remotely animal. It is, in fact, a delicious Danish type pastry, with sliced almonds on top and an almond paste filling within. Quite scrumptious, and we felt had the edge on Panera Bread’s own variation.
If you like muffins the choice is enormous – chocolate chip, blueberry, banana nut, cranberry orange and cranberry apple with a low fat apple and pumpkin. There are cookies, bagels, croissants, plus a wide range of coffees to complement them. Hot tea is also available, plus a variety of beverages.
The café itself is airy and bright, with large windows along the front. Inside there are tables, booths and tall tables with high stools. There is a display of mouthwatering pastries, but you can also stop off for a bowl of hot soup, and a variety of different sandwiches, salads, and of course, Paninis. Fillings include everything you can think of, from chicken to turkey, tuna to vegetables, and ham, roast beef, pastrami, and Cuban pork loin.
If you get the chance to sample this lovely bakery then try their half and half combo – a half bowl of soup, served with fresh baked bread, with a half sandwich or half salad. There are normally 5 choices of soups, which change on a daily basis. Why not take one of their speciality breads home with you? There are plenty to choose from, each one delicious.
Like Panera Bread, there is free wireless internet access for those who must keep in touch at all times!
