Raglan Road Irish Pub
We visited Raglan Road Irish Pub mainly because you can check availability and book online so it was so easy. We’ ve visited a lot of Disney restaurants over the years but this has become a real favourite.
The theming is excellent - it really feels like and Irish pub. The sheer size of it is cleverly disguised with alcoves and nooks and crannies so you get a cosy atmosphere. There are main restaurant tables which you can book in advance plus there is open seating at the bar where drinks and meals can be ordered.
The restaurant is wood panelled with a variety of seating - booths, traditional wooden tables, high bar tables and bar stools at the bar. There is a stage where live bands were playing what I assume is traditional Irish music although I am no expert on that.
The lighting was a little low on our first visit and I found reading the menu difficult although it seemed much better on our return visit even though we were given the same table. The menu is based on traditional British food rather than particularly Irish - Fish and Chips (really nice British chips) which is served in rolled paper then tipped onto your plate at the table, Beef Stew, Shepherds Pie, Sausage and Mash (although my son said the sausage was very spicy) to name a few of the dishes we ate plus Salmon, Steak, Salads etc.
For sides the colcannon was particularly good and the crispy onions very tasty. However the portions are quite substantial so beware of ordering too many side dishes.
The desserts are also substantial. We sampled the sticky toffee pudding, creme brulee with Irish cream, apple pie and a pavlova creation which was very interesting and appeared to be floating in an alcoholic soup!
There is a good wine menu and they serve the usual range of beers including of course Guinness and Murphys and a range of Irish Whiskey plus some great cocktails including an iced version of Irish coffee.
The service was very good - friendly and efficient. Both times we arrived before our reservation time and were given a paging device but only had to wait a few minutes before being shown to our table. Service throughout our meal was very efficient although we didn’ t feel rushed at all.
The location is great - just at the Disney Marketplace end of Pleasure Island. Although the clubs at Pleasure Island are closed you can still walk through from Downtown Disney or enter directly from the car park.
We visited twice during our recent holiday and will definitely return. Good value and family friendly.
