Gentlemen start your engines…….
Another of Orlando’s themed restaurants and highly visible driving along I-4, noticeable for its chequered domed roof and HUGE Monster Truck parked outside, this isn’t a place you would think of to serve great food.
How wrong can you be? The food here is terrific.
We went along one evening with our son and two of his friends as it looked like just the place for 3 young adults to have a full throttle meal whilst enjoying the video games and all things motor driven.
The restaurant is themed around speed of the NASCAR variety but don’t let that put you off, it is so much more than that. Yes from first appearances it is very “blokey” but with good company it’s a fun place for dinner.
Of course there is wall to wall car memorabilia, featuring NASCAR, Indy Speedway, drag racing, even speedboats, but the food and service is pole position too.
When we arrived it was very quiet and we mistakenly took this as a bad sign. However, seeing the boys with eyes like saucers we decided to try it out. We were shown to a table straight away and our server was chatty and polite. Our drinks and appetizers were brought out within minutes and we tucked in hungrily.
We opted for a couple of choices for us all to try. The Nitro wings and Onion explosion really fired up the taste buds in preparation for the main course.
While we waited for the entrée’s the boys tried out some of video games and from the laughing and whooping, they had a great time and worked up an appetite. Just as well really as the entrée’s arrived, and these are not small portions.
We all chose a different item from the menu again so we could all pick and mix. Between us we managed to cover a large variety from a superb Fettuccini Alfredo, to pizza, to steak and our son, who is the Ribs expert, made plenty of lip smacking noises showing his approval of their BBQ Ribs and Chicken combo.
Just once I would like to be able to taste a dessert, but yet again that goal was thwarted, so although it was tempting, there was no way anyone could manage anything from “The Victory Lap” – dessert menu.
This was a great night out, the food, service and theme certainly exceeded what we had expected to be maybe just a step up from McDonalds. We will certainly visit again.
