Making the Most of Your Villa Part 1
It may the first time you have stayed in a villa or you may have been visiting Florida for many years staying in a villa but I thought I would share a few things we find help us to enjoy our stay even more.
Most owners are happy to provide a floor plan of the villa or if not will let you know where all the rooms are allocated.
After a long journey and if you are from the UK a long flight where everyone is getting tired and just cannot wait to get there it is a good idea to decide who will sleep where before you arrive at your villa. There is always great excitement when you enter the villa and a tendency for everyone to dash from room to room so if everyone knows where they are sleeping they can go there first with their cases instead of just dumping them at the entrance.
All villa bedrooms have plenty of storage space most having walk in closets. We always get the girls to at least put the clothes that need hanging up in their closet before they dash for the pool. I must admit they are pretty good and the next morning they empty the rest of their case/s and then the luggage can also be stored away in the closet.
Our villa like most of the others provides a washing machine, tumble drier and ironing board. If you have an extended family staying to avoid any friction (no one wants that on holidays) it is best to decide who does what regarding washing and ironing. On holiday this is usually kept to a minimum but if you decide to not take the whole of your wardrobe you may need to wash and iron! It works quite well in our family Mom always does all the washing and I do the ironing – I just wish my Dads shirts weren’t so big!
Once everything is put away there is then a dash for the pool. We usually have about an hour in here to cool down and relax after a long sticky journey.
On our first evening we decide on the way over whether to eat in or eat out, this normally depends on the time of day our flight is due to arrive. If we fly indirectly we usually arrive early evening and usually opt to eat in. This means on the way to the villa we pick up milk, water, wine, beer, coke and a packet of cornflakes and then order a meal to be delivered to the villa.
If we are eating out after our swim in the pool we shower and go to one of the many of the all you can eat restaurants near the villa. We take this option as no matter how exhilarated everyone is if we go to a table service restaurant most of the party are falling asleep by the time their meals come!
