Villa owners enjoy Florida too
This visit was a time to check on my home and to make sure that all was in tip top condition for the coming rental season 2008.
Arriving on Thanksgiving Day was a good move. I was out of Orlando Airport in about 30 minutes
My first night was spent in a friends villa, we planned to try the Black Friday sales and went to Wal*Mart at 6am then back home for breakfast and then on to Eagle Ridge Mall for yet more bargain hunting.
I like shopping Floridian style - I like shopping any style. It is a good way to see how things are done in the USA and most of my guests have had positive shopping experiences. Although the car park was full the Mall was not too crowded and I was able to have some bargains. Did not stay out too long as jet lag was setting in and the effects of a very early morning start.
What was nice about this trip was being able to meet other villa owners and members of this forum. It gave me an opportunity to try out some of the restaurants I had heard folks talk about and have the benefit of good company.
I had my first Margarita this trip. . . . . and had to have another to make sure I liked it ( Memo to self. . . . only ONE per Florida Trip)
Thankfully there was not too much to do in the villa as I have good management. I was under strict instructions from my husband not to mess with the drill as I have the action of a rampant woodpecker with poor aim.
Painting was also a "no go " area as I tend to dribble
The weather was wonderful, up in the 80's most of the time I was there. It was great to sit out on the pool deck and relax. The past year has been busy and stressful at home due to family ill health and loss of employment
Florida can be a great place to relax and unwind as well as a being able to have lots of activity and fun at the Theme Parks and other attractions.
What a change since my last visit in January 2007.
Highway 27 from the Hwy 192 turn off north in the direction of Clermont has been transformed. There is now a brand new 3-lane road in both directions. Gone are all the leaning telegraph poles and unkempt grass verges we now have a side walk and grassed areas at the roadsides. Eeven the local gas station is getting a facelift !
At Cagans Crossing there is now a smart modern shopping centre. I had a look in there and there are several new restaurants, cafes and shops. Opposite, next to Wal*mart there is a new Chilis restaurant too. Lowes the DIY / Garden Centre is now open much to the relief of villa owners and there are a few more developments going on in the area including Posner Park - a large shopping mall a few miles south on Hwy 27 that should open up sometime in 2008.
Access and travel times to the Theme Parks and other attractions has been made a whole lot easier due to the road improvements.
I am really looking forward to my next visit and happy that my guests can benefit from all this improvement work to this part of Florida.
