La Nouba - New Act
We recently heard that La Nouba added a new act in February 2010. This is the world-renowned juggler Anthony Gatto and he will be a permanent addition to the ninety minute show. Apparently in the nine-minute act, Gatto juggles balls, hoops and clubs at amazing speed with fantastic accuracy. Apparently he holds eleven world records for his juggling. His new act is entitled “cinq-a-sept” which means “five-to-seven, ” generally known as “happy hour. ”! This fits in very well with the meaning of La Nouba - “to party”. Having heard about this new act we intend to return to Cirque du Soliel on our next visit.
La Nouba takes place Tuesdays to Saturdays at 6. 00 and 9. 00pm. The theatre does not usually open on Sundays or Mondays or on a few select days in the rest of the year.
Tickets are available by calling (from UK) 001 407 939-7328 or you can call in person at the box office which is at the plaza level of the theatre, alternatively you can log on to cirquedusoleil. com/lanouba.
It is always worth planning your whole evening when you intend to go to the show as the theatre is surrounded by of venues to eat, shop and play. We usually go to the 9. 00pm performance so arrive late afternoon and have a leisurely walk and browse around the shops at Downtown Disney. These days you can even have a balloon ride over the surrounding area.
We then have dinner before going to the show. There are many restaurants to choose from including:
Cap’n Jacks – great seafood
House of Blues
Fultons Crab House – try the fish here
Rainforest Café – great if you have young children but can be noisy
Planet Hollywood – full of memorabilia but very noisy
Ragan Road – Irish Pub theme
Portobello – Italian food
Wolfgang Pucks Upstairs Dining
Some restaurants accept reservations and when they do it is advisable to get one as this area can get very busy in the early evening.
Cirque du Soliel started as a group of 20 street performers in 1984 and is now a major international organization providing great quality artistic entertainment. Since its started Cirque du Soleil claims to have had “90 million spectators in more than 200 cities on five continents. ”
Gatto, who has been called “the best juggler ever” will now join the group of professional athletes, dancers, vocalists, musicians and comedic performers in the cast of 67 artists that perform in La Nouba.
I think the evening we go we will possibly opt for a balloon ride, then browse and I am sure buy in the Disney Shop before dining at Cap’n Jacks.
I am really looking forward to it and especially seeing Gatto.
