Kobe Japanese Steak House and Sushi Bar
For a unique dining experience, with freshly cooked, delicious food I can highly recommend Kobe’s Japanese Steak House and Sushi Bar.
Heading east on the HWY192, across from Celebration and next to Arabian Nights, Kobe’s is at Marker 8 in Parkway Boulevard.
As you enter there is a large bar area with a goldfish pond, and also an outdoor terrace for you to enjoy a pre-dinner beverage, in a relaxed atmosphere, while you wait for your table.
While you wait you are given a buzzer to alert you when your table is ready. Each horseshoe shaped table seats 10 guests. We were shown to our table with another group of diners by our ‘geisha’ hostess, who explained the menu and took drink orders while we perused the menu. Children under 10 can order smaller portions from their children’s menu.
There is a varied selection of appetisers to choose from including sushi (both vegetable for those who are not keen on raw fish), traditional sushi, shrimps, scallops and egg rolls. Be warned, for those with small to average appetites, the main meal is huge, so we are pleased we decided to by-pass the appetisers. As part of the meal you are also offered a delicious clear onion soup and salad. You will be offered a set of chopsticks, including especially adapted ones for the children, but don’t worry, forks are offered too!
The main meal is called ‘Teppenyaki’, which means ‘table cook’ in Japanese. Your geisha will take your order from a choice of fish (salmon, grouper, scallops shrimp or lobster) and meat (steak and chicken), or you may choose a combo to suit. After the soup and salad, the dishes are cleared away, and your Japanese chef will introduce himself and begin cooking on the grill at the table. Our chef was a true performer, and had us all laughing at his jokes! Be prepared for onion ‘volcanoes’, and lots of fire!
Our chef began by cooking a selection of fresh vegetables including broccoli and beans – delicious and so fresh. While we enjoyed this, he made some egg fried rice, again with fresh eggs. Next from the menu was our chosen meat or fish. I chose a steak and shrimp combo, and it was cooked by the chef to perfection. Finally came the noodles; again fresh and probably the best I have ever tasted, with Kobe’s unique seasonings. By now everyone was absolutely full to the brim. There are a choice of desserts including ice cream, bananas and cheese cake, but no one on our table could manage another mouthful.
We all agreed that the meal was fresh, tasty and satisfying, and more of an experience than a simple meal out, and the chef’s humour made the evening.
Kobe is definitely one of our ‘must return again’ restaurants, we loved it!
