Red Lobster revisited
This restaurant is still top of our list of must visit places to eat. The menu is mainly seafood as the name suggests, but steaks and chicken as available as well. The lobster, shrimp, crab legs and scallops are wonderful and the service is always good. On average we visit Orlando two to three times a year with at least two meals in Red Lobster per trip and can honestly say that we have never had a bad meal yet.
The menu regularly changes around the seafood theme with perhaps the addition of Caribbean or Mediterranean seasoning. As you would expect they offer a wide range of fresh fish dishes which change with the seasons, my favourite is the Tilapia in a bag and is well worth a try. Each meal comes with a choice of house or Caesar salad or soup and their wonderful freshly baked warm cheese biscuits (scones), don’t be afraid to ask for more if you want them as they are unlimited but be warned they are very moreish and do fill you up.
There are also a good range of chicken, steak and pasta dishes for those who are not keen on the seafood. Although we have eaten steak here and it was good we usually opt for the seafood and leave the steak dinners for trips to Steakhouses. Similarly the chicken pasta dishes can be found at many of the Italian restaurants in the area. The lobster and crab are so reasonably priced it would be silly to pass up a chance to indulge.
There is a very tempting dessert menu but too many cheese biscuits usually mean we very rarely have room left to try them. On special occasions we have been known to ask for extra spoons and share one dessert between 3 or 4 which the waiting staff are happy for us to do. We can recommend the chocolate wave cake and the apple crumble with its almond, walnut and cinnamon topping, both are served warm with creamy vanilla ice cream and are very good. Also if you have any food left that you want to take home just ask for a box and the waiter will be happy to supply one.
The drinks list is fairly comprehensive with some seriously large cocktails both regular and frozen. They also have a range of non alcoholic cocktails for the under 21’s or the designated driver in your party as well as a good selection of draft beers. If you look under thirty and want to order alcohol remember your ID and be prepared to show it as they are strict.
