Celebration Town Tavern
We have been visiting the Celebration Town Tavern for a number of years now. It is a family owned seafood and steakhouse restaurant located across from the lake front in downtown Celebration. It is a place for meeting friends for happy hour, taking the family for a night out, or spending the afternoon watching football on the big screen. Last year they decided to upgrade the outside eating area which now has a swish new square shaped bar in the centre, and tables and chairs for the diners, along with the heaters which generally only appear when the evening becomes a little chilly. You can just sit and watch the world go by, and when Celebration puts on their various events throughout the year, this place is the place to be so you can see everything that is going on.
The owners are from Boston, and New England is represented all the way through the menu. The Tavern’s clams are an instant reminder of how good clams can taste! They fly in all their New England seafood which makes all the difference to the tastes.
There is an appetiser menu which has the favourites like potato skins, traditional buffalo wings, and Wingers - tender, moist strips of chicken, lightly breaded and dressed with a buttery hot sauce that gets the mouths juices flowing! A more inventive appetiser is the Spicy Tuna Dip, finely minced white tuna whipped into light mousse flavoured cilantro and enough jalapeno to give it just the right kick. This is served with tri-coloured tortilla chips and is perfect for that Saturday afternoon football food.
For those who prefer lighter fare, the Tavern offers a variety of salads. My favourite is their Summer Salad with a fantastic homemade raspberry vinaigrette dressing on the side. It is full of mandarin oranges, cranberries and pecans and together with the dressing provides a different taste than most salads. You can add steak or chicken if you wish, but I prefer to keep to just the salad.
There are several different steaks available including The Town Tavern Surf & Turf which is a 12 ounce sirloin topped with the tavern’s signature onion rings and a helping of golden fried shrimp. The Barbeque Baby Back Ribs are to die for. They are so succulent and tender that the meat just falls off the bone as fingers become sticky with the tavern’s tangy, sweet barbeque glaze.
All in all, this is a place certainly worth a visit if not two visits! Extremely good value for money.
