Disney Beach Villas Character Breakfast
Recently on our trip to Orlando, for my birthday my husband surprised me by taking me to the Disney Beach Villas for a Character Breakfast. It was actually a birthday present from my daughter and son-in-law, back in England. Normally without children, I wouldn’t have chosen this venue, but it was fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The pastel coloured buildings with wooden porches made you feel like you’re in a serene magical world. Upon arrival, we were asked for our reservation number and then allowed onto Disney Beach Villas property.
The breakfast was served buffet style and had a huge selection of treats. Minnie, Goofy and Chipmunk made their way from table to table, silently greeting all the guests and taking pictures with children and adults alike. I had gone up to the buffet to get my breakfast when I missed Minnie visiting our table, and as it was my birthday surprise, I felt somewhat left out, even though I am a fully grown adult.
My daughter had ordered a birthday cake, which followed the breakfast, and although now full, my husband and I each took a small slice. We offered the cake to be shared with the children in the restaurant but as it was now considered ‘open’ they couldn’t share it for health and safety reasons. The waitress, however, did suggest giving it to the characters so they could enjoy it during their break. What a great idea, but first, I had a plan!
They were more than welcome to the cake. Minutes later we were descended upon not only by Minnie but the other characters as well, all taking turns in taking pictures with me and my husband. We simply couldn’t go back home to England without photos of Minnie or Mickey for our little granddaughter.
The cake also came with a large coffee mug of salt water taffy sweets and red balloons signed by the characters. Upon leaving the character breakfast, I sought out a table with three little children and asked if I could give the balloons to them. The parents happily accepted the balloons for the children, and their little faces beamed.
Disney’s Beach Club Villas is located on six acres of land with the pool taking up half the area. The resort hosts, ‘Stormalong Bay’, a three-acre mini water park featuring a "ship-wreck" water slide, hot tubs, and whirlpools. These include a children’s shallow pool with soft sand on the bottom and raised areas where they can build sand castles within the pool area. There is a separate lazy river for swimmers to enjoy. Well, Disney just thinks of everything!
After breakfast, we took a stroll through the grounds, enjoying the breathtaking views of the lake and beach areas, and you could see the Swan and Dolphin Hotel across the lake. We stayed to enjoy the scenery and a cocktail around the pool area and soaking up the brilliant sun. It was like being in a magical place. It made for a fantastic birthday surprise!
