Cracker Barrel Country Store And Restaurant
As frequent visitors to florida we have probably tried most of the big brand names for food, whether for breakfast lunch or dinner. So to try something different and on recommendation from friends we tried Cracker barrel country store and restaurant. Situated at the eastern end of H192 it is easily found by looking for the big yellow road sign
On your arrival you are immediately taken by how different it is to the normal food outlets.
The restaurant is accessed from within the store itself. For people who want good wholesome old fashioned food this is the place to go. No fast foods here, everything cooked to order with old fashioned favourites such as meat loaf, chicken n' dumplings roast beef dishes all served with country cooked to country way. All dishes come with cornbread and buttermilk biscuits and lashings of coffee.
The nearest to alcohol is frozen apple cider so anyone wanting a beer or glass of wine need to look elsewhere. The menu is split into breakfast, lunch or dinner but especially for us 'mad brits' breakfast is available all day.
Prices range from $5.00 to $15.00 depending on what you choose. For those people who like to eat at home a takeaway menu has just been included. This includes set menu for six with entree-veg-pots-corn muffins and buttermilk biscuits for only $34.99. Children's portions are also available. Service is quick and friendly but be aware these are very popular with locals and early evening can be very busy.
Of course eating at Cracker Barrel is only half the experience because as the name suggests it is a country store also. Designed to resemble an old store there are hundreds of genuine antiques and memorabilia hanging from ceilings and shelves, it is an absolutely unique gift shop.
Largely American made goods stock the shelves and the range is huge. From foodstuffs to toys to gifts to kitchenware to clothing this store has something for everyone.
Men be aware the goods are good quality and reasonably priced so the womenfolk tend to spend spend spend!!
As a final treat after eating your fill and spending your money why not wander onto the veranda and have a relaxing seat in one of the numerous rocking chairs (which are also for sale).
Have a relaxing game of checkers or a quiet chat before winding your way back home.
