Santa Fe Steak Restaurant
Having often seen it from a distance on our many shopping trips to Walmart and after hearing good reviews we decided to finally try The Santa Fe Cattle Company Restaurant ourselves.
We visited the one on the US27 in Clermont, just up the road from the Walmart Super Center on the right.
The exterior of the restaurant is authentically decorated to look like a Texan ranch, complete with a life size bull to welcome visitors at the door. The Texan theme is carried on throughout the restaurant and we had great fun looking around and spotting all the decorations.
Despite it being the busy Easter period, we only had to wait ten minutes for a table for four. We were shown to our table, where the children were delighted to find a huge bucket of roasted peanuts in the shell, and even better were invited to throw the shells on the floor. I felt quite sorry for whoever has to clean the floor at the end of the night, as by the time we arrived, it was already fairly well covered!
Our server brought menus, explained a bit about the dishes and ‘dish of the day’, took our drinks order, and left us to try to decide what to have from the jam-packed menu! As you would expect the menu is a Texan theme, offering a great selection of dishes including steaks, burgers, fajitas, ribs, pasta chicken and seafood, as well as a good selection on combo platters and a children’s menu.
In no time at all our server returned to take our order. We decided to start with a combo platter to share, I ordered a steak, husband and daughter both ordered fajitas and youngest had a hot dog from the children’s menu.
After a short wait our combo platter arrived, piled high with chicken tenders, cheese sticks and chicken wings – all were really well cooked and tasted fresh – but go easy, there is a lot! Once we had enjoyed this and the plates had been cleared away we had a short wait (well needed) before our main course arrived. My steak was cooked to perfection and was probably one of the best I have had. The fajitas were enjoyed, but both husband and daughter said they had wished they had chosen a steak or ribs, as this is obviously what the restaurant does best, and youngest really enjoyed his hot dog.
Unfortunately by now we were absolutely full, and so couldn’t manage deserts. We were really disappointed as were looking forward to trying out such delights as Dirt Pie, Fruit Cobblers and Brownies.
All in all we would definitely recommend anyone to give it a try, and we will go again and make sure we leave room for the deserts!
