Cherry Pocket for dinner.
Cherry Pocket Steak and Seafood Shak is located in a fish camp in Lake Wales. If you are looking for starched table cloths and silver service this is not for you. If you want great seafood, fish or steaks, served enthusiastically then it will be right up your street. All meals are freshly cooked just for you so they do taste really fresh.
Let me whet your appetite for dinner
There are 13 starters to choose from and we liked the sound of Seafood Boat and we were not wrong. A zucchini boat was filled with shrimp, crab and scallops all bathed in a parmesan sauce. This cost a smidgeon under $10.
Another starter that looked good was a Cracker Plate which had 2 catfish, 2 gator nuggets, 2 mushrooms, 2 onion rings, 2 squash and 2 zucchini all in a ranch or hazelnut dressing (choose the hazelnut, if you want my advice) This is to share between 2 of you and costs $7. 99. They also do the same platter for 4 of you to share.
Now to the main course; I would select from the house specialities which all looked good.
We liked the Sea Scallops in a garlic sauce ($15. 49) and the Deep Sea Grouper platter.
Al main courses come with sides and they do not skimp on the portions.
I can never resist a crab cake and they have a Louisiana Crab Cake dinner which is served with dirty rice, baked potato, vegetables and sweet or baked potatoes. Dirty rice, by the way, is not as frightening as it sounds and is actually very tasty.
I doubt if you have room for anything else but you should try one of their home made desserts. Maybe the table can share a couple. From key lime pie to Carrot cake they are huge and gorgeous.
There is a kids menu that has all their favourites such as mac' n' cheese, hot dog, fettuccine Alfredo and cheeseburger. These cost between $3. 99 and $6. 49.
On selected evenings they have live entertainement which makes it a real evening out.
They do not take bookings but there is an adjacent bar where you can enjoy a drink or 3 while you wait for a table.
