Places to Eat Around Champions Gate 2008
We were very pleasantly surprised at the variety of eating out choices we had within 5 minutes of our Ashley Manor home. What was even better was that most of them would deliver if we were too tired to go out again in the evening.
To start on the up-market, side, the Omni is well worth a visit. This imposing hotel sits in the middle of the golf courses and you can watch the play as you sit in David’s Restaurant. We particularly enjoyed the Italian Restaurant, which has a stately décor but is staffed by very friendly waiters. The flatbreads there are wonderful. The staff are also more than happy for a party to share the generous proportioned pizzas and flatbreads. The other advantage is that it never seems to be full, however, at very quiet times it can be closed so it is worth phoning first.
Their Pool Restaurant is very relaxed and serves a variety of food. David’s Restaurant has a more traditional menu and is a relaxing place to sit. There is also a Japanese restaurant
Within the Champions Gate Shopping Area there are 2 restaurants. You can sit outside the Italian Restaurant but they also have room inside. The “small” pizza in the Italian Restaurant is large even by Italian standards. The rest of the menu is good standard Italian fare.
The Chinese Restaurant has an extensive menu and the owners have just opened another restaurant on the 192 at Cagans Crossing. It is quite small inside but they do deliver.
A new Chilli’s has opened between Champions Gate and the I4 but we haven’t tried it yet.
I nearly forgot to mention the McDonalds. You can tell we don’t travel with children.
Dunkin Donuts has just opened at Ruenion Shoppes and is good for take away snacks. There is also a Pizza Hut.
The final local choice is home delivery or take away from the Chevron Garage/Convenience Store just 5 minutes walk away. They cater for the English market, both in terms of getting English newspapers and in providing fish and chips! This stays open until 11 o’clock so there is no problem if you feel peckish later or if you are arriving late.
If you are happy to venture a little bit further away there is a vast range of restaurants in the Formosa Gardens area if you go up Lake Wilson Road and turn left on to the 192 and then of course there is every kind of meal imaginable in the Disney and International Drive Area.
Having said that some of our favourite meals have been BBQs on our own pool deck.
Incidentally we can now organise a chef to come and cook a gourmet meal for you at your villa if you have some special occasion to celebrate. And they do the clearing up!
