An Enjoyable Quiet Morning in Celebration, FL.
After experiencing all the fun of the big rides in the many parks of Orlando. Having early starts and late nights and too many large meals and drinks. ! My family and l look forward to spending a relaxing morning at ‘Celebration’ located between road markers 6 and 9, off the 192 in Kissimmee. It was built to commemorate the Millennium, a new town, very clean and fresh, with quaint houses with verandas and rocking chairs.
There are two large Banks and a general Post-Office at the beginning of the main street of many shops. We walk down the main street towards the large lake, then turn left and are in view of the ‘fountain of fun. ’ The fountain has a random cycle of little and large fountains of water almost performing a dance. !
Some are gentle sprays, not far off the ground, others quite fierce jets of water reaching up, they almost seem to have a mind of their own. ! After watching other people navigate the puzzle and finding the right time to run through to the other side without getting a soaking. We took our chance too, and made it, it was fun. ! We always see some toddlers with Mum or Dad doing the same and sometimes one of the little ones chance it on their own and get it wrong. They have a shower but don’t seem to mind. !
After a while, we take a walk along the path that takes us around the large Celebration lake. Some people cycle, other skate, and some people are walking their dogs. Everyone is always friendly and we often stop and chat. Sometimes we have seen young alligators in the lake and once we saw a family of turtles. We always see different water birds and lots of water lilies on the lake, too. There are foot-bridges to take while walking along the lake path which lead through to some houses and more smaller lakes. We once saw a deer with her young foal down in the trees below the bridge, and squirrels run along the railings of the bridge, too. The walk around the lake takes about fifty-five minutes and leads back to the fountain.
We always make our way to the ‘homemade ice cream’ shop, near the fountain, for a large ice cream. There are so many lovely flavours it is hard to choose only one so, the owner gives us one, two or three flavours in one cone, wonderful. ! We sit at one of the outside tables to enjoy our treat and the local birds hope they can join us. !
We then take another shorter walk and view some more of the homes which we find interesting as they are very different to our own. It is then time for lunch, there are some good restaurants to choose from. We then relax one the chairs provided on the patio by the lake and enjoy the sun.
