Travelling with children
I always find travelling with children a harrowing experience in its self without the thought of an 8 hour trip to Florida.
I have found by care full planning things can be relatively smooth.
Get a back pack or one of the little pull along bags for each child we found that making each one in charge so to speak of there own things for the flight it worked out much better
We had 2 girls one aged 6 and the other aged 4 so we asked them what toy they most wanted to take with them explaining that they had to carry it themselves and find something not too heavy.
One chose a doll and the other chose a teddy so I got some spare clothes for each doll and teddy so they could play at changing clothes ( it was amazing how many times this happened)
In the bag I also bought some pencils and a colouring book for each we also managed to buy several small travel games like connect 4, and solitaire, we also got puzzle books and playing and a set of snap cards. The list is endless for you to get but if you put in things that your child will enjoy it does make life easier. I found that the pound land shops sold lots of cheap throw away little bits and bobs that were ideal for the journey
You can also take the little computer games like DS and so on but ours children were not old enough for that but still needed entertainment. We did take a couple of new books to both read to the children and books they could read themselves.
We also found that we needed to take with us some food for them as both of ours were fussy eaters we took along fruit and cream crackers and some cream cheese (not sure if you would be allowed the cheese now) we did know that if they did not eat the fruit that it would have to be thrown away before entry into Florida as they are very strict about that.
I know that nowadays a lot of airlines do have seat back TVs but there is always the possibility that either the children might not be interested in TV or it might not work as we have found this out in the past.
We did find the journey back was not as bad as the children sleep most of the way home
But as said previously a little planning and your journey just ‘flies by'.
