Tips when visiting Downtown Disney
The car parks at Downtown Disney are vast so do make sure you can remember where you parked your car! After several hours shopping and maybe even having a meal it is easy to forget – a good tip is to put your location in your mobile phone.
Some people visit Downtown Disney if it is a rainy day; others take the children late afternoon early evening. The latter time can get busy in the restaurants.
If you have a late flight home on your last day this is a lovely time to go. You can either have lunch and then shop or do all your shopping before settling down for a final Disney meal.
Having been to Disney you will have a good idea of what is available so can leave this shopping until the last day. However if your shopping is complete this gives you some time to get the “things you forgot”.
If during your visit to Downtown you are planning to take your daughter to the Hannah Montana Secret Star makeover at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, be aware that the only ' costume' you are given is your choice of a Hannah Montana top. You will need to make sure she is wearing shorts or trousers for the makeover.
However when you purchase the Princess makeover the girls are given a complete dress. If any of your girls are slightly bigger than the normal size for their age larger costumes are available but you must book these in advance.
Always make a visit to Ghirardelli' s Chocolate Factory. Not only do they do great chocolate but they often give out free chocolate bars.
The Magic shop in the West End is also worth a visit even if you do not want to buy anything. The magician at the counter performs tricks, both card and otherwise. However you can often be so desperate to find out how it’s done, that you buy it! If you do this a staff member takes you to the back of the shop and teaches you how to the trick.
Be sure to treat the children to some Mr. Potato Head parts at Once Upon a Toy. The girls always use them when we get back home not only on potatoes but also on smaller pumpkins.
My Mother always visits the 25 Days of Christmas shop. Here you will find really unique and specialty items. You can buy Mickey ornaments and have them personalized with your names and any event you may want to celebrate. She usually orders them when we first arrive in Downtown and then they can be collected when we leave.
Finally a new store has opened a Disney Tee Shirt shop where I believe you can design your own tee-shirts. This will be our first stop next time we go to Downtown Disney.
