Cirque Du Soleil - a Magical Evening
Over time every adjective imaginable must have been used to describe a Cirque du Soleil show. Breathtaking, awesome, unbelievable and amazing being only a few.
If you would like a truly magical evening then make reservations to see this show. We have seen it four times in as many years at its custom built home in Downtown Disney and each time we have seen something different in the show.
For those of you who have never encountered this company, they are teams of highly skilled acrobats, the like of which, in our view, you will probably not see anywhere else. To describe the performers as mere acrobats is really inadequate – when you witness some of their routines, it is guaranteed that you will be left wondering how on earth they did that!! Many times you will be left holding your breath at the high wire or trapeze acts or sitting open mouthed at the feats of strength and dexterity.
La Nouba is the name of the show and the story revolves around a mystical circus. But this is no ordinary big top tale. The costumes are fabulous, highly coloured and imaginative, the make up fantastic and the music powerful. The acrobats weave the story in a way that will leave you spellbound. The 90 minute show will pass, seemingly, in a moment!! A 14 year old teenager who came along with us and thought going to the show was very ‘uncool’, uttered not a word throughout the whole performance and asked to go again the next night! Not only that, she thought she had seen only the first half of the show so quickly has the time passed.
The action on the ground and above your head is constant and just as you are concentrating on one thing, something else demands your attention. Hence the need for a return visit!
Our favourite characters are the strongman and the tiny Chinese acrobats. But then there are the trick cyclists and the man who floats down to the stage on red silk ‘wings’ and then ‘flies’ over the heads of the audience. And who can ignore the clowns – equally as skilled as the rest of the performers.
Our choice is to see the show on the last evening of our Florida vacation – we leave on a complete high which helps to cushion the huge blow of having to return home and leave behind everything Floridian. When we arrive in Orlando, the Box Office is our first call to choose our seats. Book early to avoid disappointment. An insider tip we were given on our first visit is to have seats as far back from the stage as you can. That way you can see what is happening on the ground and have the high wire and trapeze artists at your head height. Awesome!
We truly believe that ‘La Nouba’ will not disappoint you and your family and, like us, you will become Cirque du Soleil addicts, catching their shows at various venues in the UK and the United States.
