Tips for Taking Children
There is usually a fair amount of pre-planning to be done when you take small children to the parks.
You will find it a lot easier going through security at the parks if you pack everything is in its own see-through bag. Visiting with little ones, you need usually an extra change of clothes, snacks, bottles, nappies, wipes, etc. I usually take an old wet flannel which I throw away at the end of the day
I normally place each item in its own Ziploc see-through bag. This makes it easier and quicker to get through security because they can see everything. It also keeps the items clean and dry.
When the girls were young we used to pack snacks and small cereal boxes in the carry on bags. That way we knew it was food they would enjoy and avoided us looking for suitable food then waiting in a queue and perhaps even making relatively expensive purchases that were not eaten.
Do not forget to take some rain ponchos with you, these are cheaper to buy at the supermarkets and you never know when you are going to get a sudden downpour.
If your children are young you will have a stroller and these are great for storing all your goods. If you do not have a stroller you can always make use of the rented lockers.
Last year one of our girls wore crocs for the whole of her holiday. She traveled in them on the plane and we put a pair of socks on as the plane was quite cold. Once at the parks their toes are protected, did not get too hot and neither did they get wet if we had a sudden downpour.
It can get very hot in Florida and uncomfortable for babies. Buy a little battery-operated fan; these will be cheaper in Walmart than at the parks. You can clip it in your stroller to make baby far more comfortable.
The girls are always asking if they can have one of those large oversized hats that they sell at the parks. Usually if parents buy them the kids get too hot wearing them and the adults end up walking around holding them just for them to been thrown in the toy cupboard when you get back home. On our last trip we got the girls to put on one each in the shop then we took several photos. They were delighted as they had the photos to show their friends when we got home!
If your little ones get scared of the noise particularly when the fireworks are going off they can get very frightened. In the winter months you can take ear muffs but a better idea might be an MP3 player. You can record all their Disney favourites and play them particularly at Epcot where the fireworks can get very noisy.
Everyone loves Glo-sticks and they are very popular in the evening at the parks. I usually buy them before I go on holiday as they are relatively cheap in the discount type
