The Cricketers Arms
While recently in Orlando it just so happened that my husband thought he was going to miss watching his football team The Wolverhampton Wonderers play in the FA cup 4th round against Man UTD, that was until he did a search on the wonderful internet and discovered that Florida had it’s very own piece of England ……an English pub…..an English pub which shows English football….so we went in search, and found…
The Cricketers arms!
The Cricketers arms pub is situated In the Mercado Marketplace on international drive. It is open seven days a week from 12 midday until 2am, although the day that we visited they did open early as the “match” kicked off at 1100am.
There was a small charge to pay but hey, to see your team play it has got to be worth it(even if they do lose 3 nil:( I am not a great footie fan I have to admit but I had dragged hubby around the shops quite a few times already and so now it was his turn but I must admit that it was quite an enjoyable morning…..the atmosphere was very good and everyone very friendly. With fans from both sides cheering on their sides.
Inside it was typical of an English pub and even had a good old fashioned telephone box. There was a big screen to boot so everyone gets a good view of the match.
Although we did not eat there the food did look great, they serve lunch and dinner and have a daily happy hour. They have no fewer than 17 beers on tap including a vast selection of imported lagers and beers, bitter, stouts and ales along with 4 hand drawn ales , London pride, fullers, old speckled hen and tetly’s.There is also a decent wine selection available to those who prefer it.
The menu is varied with typically English fayre including the ‘chip butty’. Along with such dishes as cottage pie, bangers and mash, sandwiches, salads, fish and chips, steaks, burgers and roast dinners. They also offer a children’s menu and a good selection of desserts for the sweet tooth.
They have nightly live entertainment with a selection of local singers and artists performing live. European sporting events are also shown live here, and do attract a wide audience.
So for the footy fanatics out there who just can’t bear to miss their favourite team, you now know just where to go.
