Our First Ever Visit to Florida - Part 8
I ask my wife has she filled in the visa waiver forms correctly I always let her do this because her writing is much neater than mine, yes she says, quickly checks through it.
You wait in a big arrival areal everyone on the flight wanting to get to their Disney holiday, the first thing you notice about America is the sure know how to queue, they have the science of “getting in line” well and truly sorted.
The huge queue forms into a great big winding snake before arriving at the end where an immigration office stops you and directs you to another separate queue for an immigration booth, there is a waiting area before every booth with a line on the floor you must stay behind the line until you are called.
This is my least favourite part of the holiday, the immigration area is a deadly serious area you are made very aware that you comply with the rules and must do as you're told otherwise it to the back of the queue once more for the kids and even the adults it can be intimidating.
We are sent to join the queue for immigration booth no 7, make sure behind the line you’re called! Soon it’s our turn we approach the booth the homeland security guard looks through our papers and immediately points out we have filled it in incorrectly we have dated it on the wrong line he gives it us back tells us to go back and fill it in again.
We go back behind the line and to a little desk to refill in another visa waiver were more nervous than ever as this is our first experience of this, another couple is called forward in our place, we fill in the form again and double and triple check it and then get back in the queue “behind the line”.
Soon we are called forward again this time we have filled in our forms correctly were asked a question like how many times we been to USA, where we are staying, the purpose of our visit. Then we have our fingerprints taken and pictures taken of each of us, in turn, all very serious and formal.
Then with much stamping of our paper and passports we are told enjoy your stay, our passport back in our hands we are through immigration at least time to relax a little
