New Disney Star Tours
When visiting Disney World, not trip would be complete without a trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The park is one of Disney’s most popular attractions and gets very busy in the peak periods, that said it is worth every penny, with the full Disney experience on offer everywhere you look. There are many great rides and shows at Hollywood Studios, one of the best is Star Tours. The attraction is based around Disney’s new collaboration with Lucas Films and has been upgraded and improved for 2012/13.
The ride is now back with new destinations and a random scene generator that can mix up the different locations you travel to, so each time you ride you could be in a different location. One moment you are attacking the Death Star, the next you are on a speeder chase. Each ride lasts around 10 minutes and is totally different each time you ride. One of the main changes is the high Definition 3-D which really is very good.
The main theme for each ride is the based around a rouge starspeeder 1000 cruiser that has a mind of its own and takes you into as much trouble as possible. If there is trouble, the Starspeeder will no doubt take you there! ! One thing that is for sure is the force is never far from the cruiser and always takes you back to safety. As the ride is a simulation ride it is not suitable for everyone and can cause nausea, so very young children might feel a little sick. Once on your way you are given the full Disney simulation experience and the ride itself flows really well from one scene to the next. Disney have really thought out the ride and made it appeal to every age generation. Those old enough able to know the original films will be happy visiting films from the first film, those around the new generation will be happy with the scenes from the new films.
Along your travels you will meet some of your popular characters including , C3PO, R2D2, Darth Vader, Yoda, Stormtroopers, Princess Leia, Chewy and Han Solo. Your pilot for the trip is none other than C-3PO, replacing the old droid from the previous Star Tours.
When visiting Star Tours it is best to try and arrive early as the ride does get very busy. During peak periods it might be best to use the Disney Fastpass option to avoid waiting around 1 hour +. The capacity of each Starspeeder is quite large, so queues do go down quickly, but due to the sheer volume of people it can still be a long wait. Due to the popularity of Star Wars and now that Disney have purchased the rights to the next Star Wars Films, this will only increase the popularity of this ride in the future.
Overall I would really rate Star Tours and would say it is a must for the family when visiting Hollywood Studios. As long as you make sure that you try to visit the ride early in the day or late when the queues have subsided. If this is not possible try to use the Disney Fastpass option.
