My favourite things to do in Orlando
I have been going to Orlando on and off for 30 years now and since buying a villa there seven years ago, I have been going at least once every year. I love everything about Orlando as I would be bored to death lying on a beach for 2 weeks sun bathing.
Even now, I still go to all my favourite parks. Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Universal Studios, Universal Island of Adventures, Wet n’ Wild and Sea World. Although they are mostly the same every time, there are always small subtle differences each time I visit and sometimes big changes when they build a new ride. I get such pleasure watching the faces of the little children when they see their favourite character up close and “real”.
They have such innocence and belief in what they are seeing, my own daughter 29 years ago nearly wet her self when she saw Cinderella’s castle in the distance from the mono rail into Disney’s Magic Kingdom. She jumped up and down and squealed with delight. These are some of the best memories I have to treasure and I still remember them, even now, every time I go to Disney.
The water theme parks are a wonderful way to spend a day, not only do you have a great time but you lose weight as well with all the walking up steps to get to the top of the slides. The wave pools are brilliant too, as long as you are a good swimmer.
Some of the different things to see are things like the Alligator Park, Air boat rides in Boggy Creek, Old Town Kissimmee, Downtown Disney, Historic Kissimmee and Downtown Orlando, numerous golf courses and crazy golf, themed dining Shows and Hot Air Balloon rides. Further afield are Busch Gardens, Daytona Beach and Kennedy Space Centre. For those wanting to go even further for maybe an overnight stay, there are the Everglades in North Miami, Miami Beach and the Keys.
I have done all of these and after all this time I still get very excited when it gets near to the time when I am about to go again. Our first stop is always Downtown Disney just to get immersed in the atmosphere and this is changing at the moment so will be different by the time we go back in November. This year I am looking forward to seeing Harry Potter at Universal Island of Adventures and trying out the Aquatica Park at Sea World.
Of course by the year 2013 Disney World will have been completely re-vamped so it will all seem new again. Can’t wait!
