Christmas Memories 2

A Thousand and some Lights

Returning after dark to sample the delights of “The Park by Night” was a wonderful time.

This visit we took the ferry over the lake to the entrance of the Magic Kingdom. It was the best way to go as from the deck in the cool, semi darkness you could see the multi coloured lights of the jetty and entrance with The Castle, magestic against the night sky in the distance.

The Magic Kingdom at night has a very different feel from the daytime visit.

You can appreciate the lights and decoration and the “warmth” of the season.

We found a place to stand on the upper terraces of the station area. This was a good place to be to see the parade pass. We stood at the front of the Castle to see the lighting up and the fireworks display. After a bit of a walk-about, some window shopping we bought a hot drink and found somewhere to sit.

Suitably refreshed, we made our way around the Magic Kingdom stopping off at various venues like the Muppet Show, Narnia and then down streets of a million twinkling lights. The synchronised flashing of the lights to traditional music was exciting along with the snow flakes falling.

We all treated ourselves to a Hot Dog (something I would not normally eat ) and then sat around and people watched for a while and listening to Christmas music and soaking up the atmosphere of “Disney at Night”

By now we were feeling the effects of jet lag and so we made our way back to the entrance for the homeward journey. Taking the Mono Rail, we slipped silently passed the Disney Resort areas, each with their own piece of Christmas lighting.

It was a tad cooler when we were waiting for the transport back to where we had parked the car.

One word of advice please take note of where you park the car (isle, row number etc. ) It can be quite an adventure and time consuming if you don’t.

Arriving back at our villa we deceided to have a day at home the following day. One thing you learn is to pace yourselves as you can walk miles around the Theme Parks.

All this was so very different to the usual Christmas season back home. I did not have to cook and prepare meals this time as we had booked ourselves a very special Christmas meal out at a restaurant in Orlando.
