Not just one for the boys this attraction!!
Not just one for the boys!!
Explosions, flames and flying cars – its all in a days work for the stunt team at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida!!
Even the less adventurous of us may at some point have thought how exciting it would be to be a stunt driver, and though a fear may have stopped us in the past, certainly watching the new stunt show in Hollywood Studios, will revive that fun and excitement again! I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect to be honest, but as it was a new attraction, and I do love the shows that the theme parks put on, I was more than willing to go and see what was on offer!
We managed to catch the show on a preview show, on our recent trip to Orlando this Easter (2005). This was a bit of a bonus at the time, there was a special feeling getting to preview a new show, that was not open to the general public at the time! As a family who had been sadden by the closure of the Notre Dame show a couple of years ago, to make way for this spectacular stunt show to be built in the area, I for one was pleasantly surprised and pleased at how worthwhile the wait had been. The director was the only slight downside for me (she introduced Millionaire last time we were here!!), slight moment when the magic went, but that aside she is very good, and the show was great!!! Definitely one for the boys, but I have to say, us girls loved it too!!
The action takes place in a full size set model of a Mediterranean village and we had a “sell-out” crowd at our viewing and I am sure it will continue to do so. The set is absolutely of film set standard, but it is the stunts that of course steal the show. Cars chase after motorbikes that pirouette perfectly, missing each other by what looks like millimetres. In a giant leap across the set, a car crashes into a market stall and is pulled off backwards. The action continues as a bike rider slides through an oil slick, ending up engulfed in flames – but this doesn’t stop him blowing up a car along the way!!!! It is all part of a plot involving a hero delivering a letter with the bad guys in pursuit! Now if it had been chocolate…MORE girls would understand it!!
The stadium that it has been built in, would indicate that they are expecting to draw the crowds with this one, and I see no reason why not? It is amazing, exciting, surprising, well put together (of course!) and there is plenty of cheesy humour to make us laugh!! I think we must also consider that I day on your feet in the park can mean that a sit down with a good show can give you that energy boast to take on the next part of your fun filled day at a Disney Theme park!! Go on, don’t dismiss it, it’s not a Yorkie bar girls!!
