Christmas at Epcot
All the parks celebrate Christmas with lots of different events and festivities, but one of our favourites is Epcot. There seems to be so many different things taking place here that it is worth taking some time to plan your day around them, so as not to miss anything. Otherwise you would have to make another visit again next Christmas, and wouldn’t that be a shame…. LOL.
So here are some of things to see and do at Epcot over the holiday period.
Candlelight Processional & Dinner Packages
Takes place in the America Gardens Theatre. Various dates from the end of Nov through to New Year.
This is a re-telling of the Christmas story with a celebrity narrator, a 50 piece orchestra and a huge choir. This is a “not to be missed” event. The celebrities are from TV and movie fame mainly, and cover a whole host of tastes. We saw Gary Sinise last year!! Each year the featured narrators will be listed on the Disney website well in advance so that you can plan to see the one you want early on.
You can combine the Candlelight Processional with dinner in one of the many restaurants in Epcot, and have reserved seating in the theatre for the show. There are 3 price bands, depending on which you wish to eat at, but as all the restaurants are good, it really is your choice of menu as to which you would prefer.
The Candlelight Processional has been taking place in Disney since 1958, at Disneyland, California first and now here at Epcot. You can see it whether or not you choose the dinner package as it is included in your normal park admission.
IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth
Epcot World Showcase Lagoon. Every evening throughout the year, with an extra special show at holiday times.
This is one of our favourite reasons for visiting Epcot, and we never grow tired of it. The shows on any normal day are spectacular but they really pull out the stops for a holiday. The whole atmosphere is wonderful, and I thoroughly recommend that you see this at least once.
Mickey's Tree Lighting Treat
Epcot World Showcase Plaza Tree Stage. Every evening from the end of Nov through to New Year.
Join Mickey and his friends as they share their holiday traditions and music before lighting the tree.
A fun and musical event every evening at dusk. The tree is visible from all around the World Showcase Lagoon and even in Future World. It is seriously big, and very colourful by day, but when the lights go on at night, it really makes you Christmassy.
Lights of Winter
Epcot World Showcase Plaza. Every evening from the end of Nov through to New Year.
Each night at sunset, after the tree lighting ceremony, yet another wonderful light display. The canopy of lights overhead as you walk over the bridge in World Showcase, may look dull and uninteresting during daylight hours (if you even notice it all), but once they are switched on it is Disney at its best. The attention to detail is dazzling, and the lights are so in tune with the music you almost lose yourself in it.
Holiday Storytellers
Epcot World Showcase. Various dates and times from the end of Nov through to New Year.
Learn about Christmas around the world, as each country in World Showcase embraces Christmas in its own unique traditions. There are storytellers in each Country with knowledge and joy to share with everyone. Along with the decorations there are written descriptions of how each country celebrates the Season.
