Indiana Jones – Epic Stunt Spectacular
Everyone will love this spectacular stunt show at Disney Hollywood Studios, especially if you have ever seen the movie “Raiders of the Lost Ark” starring Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones.
Scenes from the film are re-enacted on stage by professional stuntmen and stuntwomen and you are made to feel part of the action as the director describes what is about to happen during the 30 minute show.
As you enter the theatre you will be amazed by the stunning set and the size of the theatre which seats around 2000 people. Make sure you arrive early or you might miss the pre-show entertainment and if you are really lucky you may be chosen to become part of the action, as an extra, starring alongside Indiana Jones himself.
As the lights dim and the music begins you know the show is about to start but you are not sure where you should be looking, when all of a sudden Indy appears from nowhere, out of the rafters of the theatre.
The mood is tense as an Indiana Jones look-alike re-enacts a scene from the film, including a massive boulder chasing Indy down a narrow path and as the boulder catches him up he disappears underneath, supposedly crushed. The director shouts “cut” and of course Indiana appears safe and well and everyone cheers.
Next follows a scenery change and these can be quite spectacular in themselves. Cairo is the setting for the next part of the action and this is when the extras who were chosen from the audience make their acting debut. Thrilling fight scenes, a succession of explosions and pyrotechnics take place which will take your breath away. If you sit near the front the pyrotechnics will probably singe your eyebrows, the heat is incredible as flames surround the stage.
My favourite part of the show is at the end when I guarantee you will be biting your nails as a huge Flying Wing aircraft is brought onto the set. Indy must escape either being shot or crushed beneath the wheels of the plane. I don’t wish to reveal the ending but Indy is the hero and all ends as you would expect it should and Indy escapes to fight another day.
If you want to be chosen as an extra for the show it is advisable to arrive early, sit near the front of the theatre and appear eager and full of enthusiasm. Personally, I prefer to sit in the mid to upper rows for the best all round view. If you have small children in your party it is advisable to sit away from the main stage area, as some of the effects and explosions can be very loud.
