House of Blues Gospel Brunch
A great place to go to for Sunday Lunch is the Gospel Brunch in the House of Blues at Downtown Disney.
We went recently and had a really fantastic time. It is advisable to make a priority seating reservation as it gets very, very busy due to it’s popularity as something a little different. You can do this either by telephone or by visiting them a few days before the Sunday you want to go. The cost is US$33.50 for adults and children over 10 years old, and US$17.25 for children aged 2 years to 9 years. Children under 2 years are free of charge. There are two seating times – 10.30am and 1pm.
Upon arrival you are shown to your table and seated – if you are a small party (there are three of us) you tend to have to share tables as most of them seat eight people, but everyone is very friendly.
There are several food stations for you to visit and help yourself, and you can refill your plate as many times as you wish (and believe me, some people visit and refill many, many times!).
There is an omlette station where your choice of omlette is made freshly for you, a breakfast bar which serves delicious pastries; croissants; muffins; cinnamon buns and large bowls full of various fresh fruit - absolutely delicious! There is a hot dinner counter which serves bacon, sausages, BBQ chicken, macaroni and cheese, an assortment of potato dishes and tasty vegetables and much, much more… The dessert counter is the most tempting if like me you have a sweet tooth. Their white chocolate banana bread pudding is divine and they also serve delicious cheesecake, key lime pie, apple cobbler and other desserts.
All soft drinks and tea and coffee are included in the price and again are on a help yourself bar.
Whilst you are eating fabulous Gospel music is played, and after perhaps an hour the lights are lowered and the breathtaking voice of a Gospel Singer is heard over the chattering voices of the diners.
The curtains opened and there stood the singer and the Gospel Band who were to perform for us.
The Band who played and sang for us were called “Little Sammy and the New Flying Clouds” and they were utterly superb. Within moments they had all the audience swaying and dancing and singing along and it truly was a fantastic experience. They worked the crowd really well and everyone joined in. After a few songs they invited anyone who had celebrated either a birthday or Wedding Anniversary that month to join them on stage where they sang a special song to them and then made them join in! After a few more songs they made their bow and exited to tumultuous applause and encores.
If anyone wants a Sunday lunch with a difference then the only place to go surely is this fabulous Gospel Brunch at The House of Blues!
