My Ride at Horse World!
Every year we come to Florida , and stay in our house ‘Seventh Heaven’ in Emerald Island, Kissimmee. This year we planned to do some different activities, one being Western Horse back riding.
My Nan, my Brother (aged 6), my Sister (aged 9), my Cousins (aged 7 & 10), my uncle & Auntie, who have only ridden once or twice went on the beginners trail. Most of them were really nervous before they set off, but we met them halfway along the trail and they were absolutely fine and all were smiling, they loved it!
My Mum and I booked in for the intermediate ride as we have horses at home, but we had never ridden Western style before.
The trail guides brought the horses round, we mounted and set off. We walked for a while, and then had a trot, and then it was picture time!! After we had walked for a while we came to the lake, but the lake had overflowed so it came up to Casey’s knees, (Casey is the horse that I rode, she was about 14hh). My Mum rode an Appalossa gelding called CJ. We trotted thorough the lake and got wet, this was fun! After that we walked on, had 4 or 5 more trots, and then went back to the coral, where we started out.
All of the horses were well looked after and were really gentle and reliable, especially the ones on the beginners ride as most of the people had never ridden before!
It was optional to wear a riding hat, as in America they don’t for Western riding. We decided to wear hats, but, next time we probably will not. If you can walk, trot and canter, we would definitely recommend the Advanced ride.
When we go back to Florida, I’m definitely going back to Horse World, and will do the advanced ride! (I can’t wait).
