Evie’s Florida Holiday
Since I was about 3 years old all I wanted to do was go to Florida. I’d constantly watch Disney videos and learn every single word by heart (Beauty and the Beast was my favourite). When I was 5 my mum bought me a computer game that allowed me to explore the secrets and wonders of Disney Land: I never left the computer desk.
Many of my friends visited Florida and I’d sit green with jealousy whilst they relished the attention they’d get whilst explain about getting Mickey Mouse’s autograph and having breakfast with Pluto. I was determined to go.
In 2004 my Nana decided to have a mid-life crisis and buy a villa in Florida. When I found out I was over the moon. Every time I visited my Nana we would talk about all the wonderful things the villa would have: a heated swimming pool, a Jacuzzi, Pool table, air hockey table and what seemed to be six million bedrooms.
In the spring of 2006 my Mum, Nana and Aunt decided it would be a brilliant idea if we all took a 2 week holiday to Florida in November. Shortly after finding out I was counting down the days and saving every penny. By late June it got to the point where my friends would avoid me because all I would talk about was going to Florida. I couldn’t decide whether I was more excited at the thought of going or actually being there.
Finally November came and we was on the long journey to Manchester airport at stupid o’clock. Shortly after several hours of duty free and 300 magazines we we’re finally on the plane. I was so excited mainly because of the fact we had TV sets in the seat in front of us. After four hours of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ all my family was asleep besides me, I was still full of beans and excited to go. Every now and then I’d swap the channel on the TV to see how far we were across the pond. Each time I looked my stomach jumped a little higher, my dream was being fulfilled. Eventually we came to land at Orlando International airport and after a short delay we encountered the immigration security guards, eye scans and fingerprint scans and then rushing to grab the luggage (ours being the last as usual) we were on our way to the Villa.
Next instalment soon…. have homework to do right now
