Easter at Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida
Easter is probably the most popular time to visit Orlando, as the weather is warming up and there is low humidity, making it ideal weather for long days at the parks. Of course, Disney has lots of activities planned for the weeks surrounding Easter, and whilst these may be different each year, here are some of the things which have happened at this busy holiday season. There will be bunnies abounding and lots of Easter eggs to keep the children amused.
At Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World usually has a special parade down Main Street in the Magic Kingdom each afternoon in the week around Easter. The parade includes all your favourite Disney characters, including Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse, dressed, of course, in all their Easter finery. There are lots of Disney character meet and greet opportunities, and they are accompanied by Mr and Mrs Bunny, who can be found hopping along on the parade. These special Easter visitors appear during the day until around 5. 00 pm, and children will love seeing these characters and having their photographs taken with them.
Children will also enjoy taking part in an Easter egg hunt at Epcot. These Easter egg hunts usually take place at the American Adventure ‘s Heritage Garden in the World Showcase, and children aged between 3 and 9 are welcome to take part.
Normally, there are also Easter Egg relays which are held near Innoventions West at Future World, and these are for children aged between 6 and 12. The Easter Egg Relays take part every 40 minutes or so from around 10. 40 until 4. 40.
If you happen to be visiting Epcot at breakfast time then why not try the Easter Buffet, which is usually served at the World Showplace Pavilion, located between Canada and the UK? This buffet offers such things as breads and cereals, eggs and omelettes, salads, fruit, soup, chicken, pasta, beef and a variety of desserts. Children are not forgotten with their favourites such as pizza and macaroni cheese. This brunch is served between 9. 00 am and 3. 00 pm. Don’t forget to book in advance as it is very popular. Normal theme-park admission is required, of course.
Down at Animal Kingdom that lovable character from Bambi, Thumper the Rabbit, as well as Miss Bunny, join various characters for a meet and greet at the Good Time Gathering Spot in Camp Minnie-Minnie. Pocahontas is usually there holding storytelling sessions between 10. 00 am and 3. 00 pm in the run up to Easter. There is also an opportunity to meet The Easter Bunny, usually on Easter Sunday, around 2. 30 pm.
Whatever you decide to do, children are sure to have fun at Easter.
