Charleys steakhouse
Deceiving from the outside, but absolutely stunning on the inside, this is an absolute gem of a find. Situated on Parkway Blvd Kissimmee off the 192 this family owned restaurant has operated since 1974.
They specialize in steak (obviously) and use only the best cut’s selected from only the best three year old grain fed steer. Which are then aged for a minimum of four to five weeks, for tenderness and flavour. Then Flame broiled on a custom built natural wood burning pit.
These speciality built pits date back to Florida’s own Seminole Indians where meats, poultry and seafood were cooked over easily accessible hard woods. These carefully chosen hard woods are combined in a custom pit producing a clean aromatic 1,100 degree fire which leaves no petroleum or charcoal after taste.
This unique cooking method quickly sears the meat and seals in the natural steak juices.
These are no ordinary steaks.
On entering the restaurant the popularity of this place becomes obvious and we wondered why it had taken us so long to find it (must be a well kept secret)
As it was busy we were told we would have a fifty minute wait, but after sitting at the bar enjoying our favourite tipple we were called fifteen minutes later to our table.
The interior is positively elegant and the service is wonderful.
Our waitress introduced herself and offers an insight into the techniques used for the specialized cooking procedures of the beef and although mainly a steak house this is not strictly true as they offer a vast amount of fresh seafood.
We declined a starter as the meals looked huge and so we didn’t want to risk not enjoying our main course.
The waitress let’s you peruse the menu and then appears at the table with a huge array of meats which they are offering as specials that evening, she goes through each one and does her job brilliantly as we all chose from her specials.
I eventually decided on a huge 20 ounce fillet mignion (yes I know but I just couldn’t resistJ and hubby went for whole lobster tail and new York strip. Our friends decided on lamb chops and fillet mignion and lobster. We all shared parmesan chips which I have to say were scrummy, asparagus in hollandaise, pesto mash and potato au gratin.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the steak was one if not the best I have ever tasted.
Unfortunately we were all sooooo full that we could not possibly be tempted by the lovely puddings we were offered.(Maybe next time)
The wine list is extensive and the shiraz we chose married wonderfully.
We will certainly be back for more and highly recommend you give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.
