Busch Gardens - A great day out
We set off for Busch gardens at the crack of dawn (or what seemed like the crack of dawn)to get to the park and avoid the traffic. We did not want to be late and have to queue up to get in the park. It was August after all. It took around 1 hour to get to Busch Gardens and this was with not very much traffic. I would always advise going to Busch Gardens as early as you can to avoid the traffic.
For the journey down we had hired a large convertible car and this was a great experience as we had never been in one on an interstate before. With the wind blowing in our hair was a great feeling and worth the extra $30 to hire it.
When we arrived we still had to queue for a little while as most people had taken our plan of attack and left as early as us. The cost to get in was included in our 3 day Universal ticket we purchased.
Our friends had told us to head to the back of the park straight away to avoid any large queues and to get onto some of the bigger rollercoasters first. Again everyone seemed to have the same advice as us and also headed for the Kumba. This ride is a real great fast twisting coaster that is a real eye opener at 9.30 in the morning. Just don’t ride it after breakfast!
Our next trip was to go on the Python a real old coaster with many large corkscrew loops. This ride reminded me of my very first ever rollercoaster at Alton Towers. After this we headed for a more slower pace and queued for the Safari tour. This tour shows you almost every kind of animal you would find in the wild in Africa. It was a great trip and we wanted to go on it later in the day (queue permitting).
The water ride at Busch Gardens is called the Gwazi and you do tend to get very wet. Mainly from the paying kids on the top who squirt you as you go past! Revenge is sweet and as soon as you get off the ride you can get your own back on them, GREAT!!
Having spent around 6 hours in the park it was about time we had to head home, this did take longer as we hit all the traffic out of Tampa, but only took just over 1 and half hour.
Overall I would rate Busch Gardens 10 times better than Animal Kingdom as there is much more to do on a similar theme. At the time of year we went we would only go during the week as when we went the crowds were large and queues were long to get onto rides. There is plenty of rides to go on for the young and old, with a great animals for the family to look at. Would I go back to Busch Gardens….You bet!
