Bike rental at Disney
Fancy doing something a little bit different? Something that will let you explore a little bit more of the Disney area? Something fun? Something relaxing? Something that is not going to break the bank? Something which is actually good for you? Why not have a go at renting a bike around Disney even if you are not a guest?
What better way to take in the ambience, get some sun (yet have the breeze in you face), see nature and get your heart working! !
Disney rents bikes suitable for all sizes and you can choose from the traditional push bike for one to the more leisurely four-seater surreys, which look like old fashioned carriages with a welcome covered top that provides shade.
Although, unfortunately you can not just ride a bike around the whole Disney area (although with all that traffic would you want to), but you can ride down specially designed (and more importantly quiet), scenic nature trails, round pathways, resorts and waterfront walkways.
There are several resorts that offer bike rental. Prices are around $9 (plus tax) per hour or $18 per day (plus tax) for the bikes and around $25 (plus tax) for the Surreys –all prices correct as at September 2012. Please note that it is law for children under the age of 16 to wear a helmet whilst cycling, however Disney do provided these free of charge with the bike rental. Child carriers are also available at no extra charge.
You can rent the bikes from the following areas:-
Disney’s Fort Wilderness – this actually has its own 0. 75 mile wilderness bike /jogging/ walking trail which connects Fort Wilderness with Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, you can stop on the way to check out the horses in the stables or have a look around the lake, there area also several shops and restaurants if you get thirsty or hungry.
Disney’ Boardwalk Resort – cycle on the pretty boardwalk taking in the carnival atmosphere and enjoy the entertainment on the pier or relax cycling around the crescent lake and check out the Disney yacht and beach club and the swan and dolphin.
Disney’s Port Orleans – Enjoy a ride down the path that joins Port Orleans with Port Orleans riverside and the French quarter.
It is a most enjoyable experience which is actually good for you and you get to see some of the hotels and maybe find a restaurant that takes your fancy. . once you have worked up an appetite from your cycle.
Go on …. Give it a go…
