Antarctica Empire of the Penguins.
Every park seems to be competing with the other to provide the most awesome ride and even dear old Seaworld is getting in on the act.
So what is new there, you ask? Why, Antarctica- Empire of the Penguins, that is what.
If you remember the Penguin Walk then that is where the new ride is located and it is recreating this wild and icy place. Your ride takes you on mobile simulators that some what remind you of tilt and whirl bumpers.
You can choose from 2 different experiences called mild and wild. I would opt to do the mild first and then the wild later so there is no feeling of anti climax but if you have teenagers with you, it will be wild all the way.
The vehicles are trackless and take you through a series of rooms that get colder and colder (penguins like it cold) The scenery has white glaciers that are lit to transport you to Antarctica.
This is an adventure led by Puck, a gentoo penguin. You will meet danger in the form of a leopard.
And when your ride is complete, it is not over for you get to have the most awesome prnguin encounter where you get closer to the penguins (without a glass barrier) than anywhere else in the world.
There are 250 penguins and included among them will be rock hoppers, adelies, gentoon and the one we have all heard of, the king penguin.
In the cold of what we Brits call summer, a cold experience does not sound very tempting does it, but in the heat of the Florida weather, it will be a welcome respite.
This area also boasts a cutting edge drinks area, a food court and a gift shop with South Pole related merchandise. Try to get out without at least one stuffed penguin, dad!
For the first year or so the queues for this ride will be long so get there early and make straight for this area. The other good time to ride can be later in the day when the park gets less busy.
