Alternatives to theme parks
As villa owners who travel to Florida every year, it is often a challenge to find something new to do. However, Orlando never disappoints and here are a few ideas you may like to try.
Hot air balloon ride.
There is nothing quite like floating above Orlando and seeing Walt Disney World from a birds eye view. The Orlando Sunrise Hot Air Balloon rides offer three hour trips that leave at sunrise. They leave from Highway 192 between 5. 30am to 6. 30am depending on the time of year. They include a glass of champagne and a continental breakfast. The prices start from £126 per person and would be a delightful treat for a special occasion. This trip will give you something to remember for the whole of your life.
Helicopter Ride.
There are three different trips to choose from.
1. Orlando Tour from Walt Disney resort area, this starts from £30. 78 per person. This tour takes you over the whole of the Walt Disney World area plus Universal Studios and Seaworld.
2. Tour from International Drive gives you an introductory flight over the parks of SeaWorld including Discovery Cove and Aquatica. If you are looking for a little more adventure, a SeaWorld/Universal Helicopter Tour includes both of these famous Orlando theme parks. On the Disney Resort Helicopter Tour you' ll see the famous Disney parks including Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Disney Water Parks and Resorts, or you can extend your flight a little longer and take the Disney/SeaWorld Helicopter Tour to include the parks of Seaworld as well. The Grand Tour will take you over Orlando' s most famous parks including Walt Disney World Resort or you could splash out and take the Celebrity Grand Helicopter Tour. These tours prices range from £20. 52 for the most basic trip of 5 minutes duration right up to £101. 98 for the grand tour lasting 25 minutes.
3. Fireworks helicopter tour over Disney’s Epcot Centre. You will see the Illuminations, Reflections of Earth. This tour is £205. 24 for the 30 minute trip.
Gatorland Zoo
Gatorland is 110 acres of everglades land, which houses thousands of alligators and crocodiles. There is also an aviary, breeding marsh with observation tower, petting zoo, nature walk, gift shop and reptilian shows which include gator wrestling, gator jumperoo and up-close encounters show. You can also take a ride on the express train and then head over to gator gully splash park where the children can enjoy watery fun and games. There is a new rare white alligator exhibit featuring four of the worlds largest alligators. These reptiles are actually ivory coloured and are up to twelve feet in length and weigh over 800 pounds.
So just a couple of alternatives to enjoy.
