All New Fantasy Land - Part 1
With the advent of Universal Studios and their latest project Harry Potter, Walt Disney World has had to “pull it’s socks up”. They have been playing catch up every since Harry Potter became such a great success. But, it looks like they have done it. Apart from the new Disney Springs, which replaces Downtown Disney, the Magic Kingdom and Walt Disney’s Hollywood studios have had a makeover. Hollywood Studios is a work in progress so i shall be just writing about the Magic Kingdom.
Fantasy Land is where the majority, if not all, the changes have taken place. Gone is Toon Town and in its place is Story Book Circus. It features Barnstormer featuring Goofy as the Great Goofini, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, complete with interactive queue, and the Fantasyland Station on the Walt Disney World Railroad. Casey Jr. Soak ' N' Splash Station is the place to take the kids when they need to cool off! They will get wet!
Pete' s Silly Sideshow is a meet and greet area where children can meet The Great Goofini (Goofy as a daredevil stunt pilot) and The Astounding Donaldo (Donald as a snake charmer) or Minnie Magnifique (Minnie as a circus star) and Madame Daisy Fortuna (Daisy as a fortune teller).
The all time favourite, It’s a Small World is unchanged, as is Peter Pan’s Flight, The Mad Tea Party and the 3D film Mickey’s PhilharMagic.
New in 2013 was The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh - an updated and much improved ride. The original was a bit like a British old fashioned ghost train ride which took you through the scary enchanted forest and was really quite frightening for small children. I am very pleased to say the new ride is much better and small child friendly. There is an interactive queue and the interior is cute and cuddly, as Winnie the Pooh should be.
New for 2014 was The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Again, this replaces an old fashioned scary ride which featured the wicked witch with the poisoned apple and very little Snow White. The ride now is a roller coaster which whooshes you through to the diamond mines where the seven dwarves work. The effects inside are amazing and very rightly coloured. At the end you will see Snow White for her dwarves to come home for dinner.
In part 2, I will tell you about The Enchanted Forest
