Why rent a villa instead of a hotel - Part 2
Following pool hours rules is simply a consideration of your neighbours. Unlike a hotel, not all your neighbours will be on holiday, some villas are in residential areas and people have to get up for work and sound round a pool carries.
Some notices on the walls of the villas are to save you making a mistake which could cost you a great deal of money in damages. For example, hot tub covers look sturdy but are in fact made of polystyrene and plastic and break very easily if you sit on them and cost around $500 to replace as they are made to measure for each hot tub.
A request to put a load of towels or sheets on when you leave is because the villas have to be fully spring cleaned in 6 hours before the next guests check in. This is also why owners cannot guarantee a late check out from the villa on a guests last day, as a party of guests may be arriving on the same day as you are leaving. Most villa owners will offer to try to accommodate this as all flights from Orlando to the UK are at around the same time in the evening. However, if they receive a request for a villa booking on the same day as a previous guest is leaving, then this is not possible, due to the cleaning and check in at 4pm. The only way to guarantee a late check out is to book an extra night, as at high season most villas will be booked out every day with no gaps. This is why hotels have the same early check out and a late check in. for the very same reason - the rooms have to be thoroughly cleaned and all bedlinen and towels replaced.
Having to pay the full amount up to 10 weeks in advance is because if you cannot use your booking for any reason be it, illness, business or reasons out of your control, the owner has time to re-book your weeks and not lose money. Most will offer to re-book your holiday for a later time. This is why we stress the need to take out holiday insurance with a cancellation clause so neither you nor the villa owner will lose out financially. Unfortunately some American guests to not know about travel insurance as they all have to pay medical insurance anyway, but they do not have cover for cancellation. It has been said that it is a lot of money to trust to a stranger you have never met, but the other side of the coin is the owner is trusting you with their very valuable property and it’s contents, so it is a two way street of trust and very rarely abused on either side.
