Tips When You Go To Character Meals
When we first started going to Disney there were just a few Character Meals to choose from. Now you have lots of choices and can see the characters at Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner.
However to avoid disappointing the children it is always better to book in advance. If the meal that you want to go to is fully booked be sure to try again a couple of days before you want to go because they do get cancellations.
If you have not booked and you want to d o a character meal you are best to go at odd hours and see if they have any tables free. We once went to the Garden Grill in Epcot Land Pavilion at 1:30 and were almost the only ones there. It was great because the girls spent about an hour playing and talking with Mickey, Minnie, Chip and Dale.
If you are going to breakfast try to go to a character breakfast in one of the parks for the first 8 a. m. seating before the park opens. You enter the park around 7:45 a. m. , go and get your stroller if required and then after a really good breakfast you are in the park on the rides at opening time while everybody else is just starting to come into the park.
Friends of ours took their little girls to the Cinderella breakfast and bought some invitation cards at one of the shops, with Cinderella and the castle on the cover. They filled out the invitation from & quot; Princess Cinderella, & quot; and before they went to the parks the previous day left them on the girl’s beds so that they got them on their return!
We have always taken autograph books for the children with us, as I had not seen any for sale at the restaurants. However guests who have recently returned from our villa told me that at the meal they went they could purchase film, disposable cameras, autograph books and souvenir mugs from their server.
When the girls were little we bought postcards with specific characters on them. The girl’s friends loved it when they got postcards from Mickey and Minnie.
Do not take crayons, golf pencils or small tiny pens for the characters to sign as most characters have very large hands (or paws) and cannot hold these small items very well.
A small disposable camera for the children can be great fun, as the characters tend to perform more when they see the children taking their pictures.
When taking photos do not just take the ones that are posed for, as soon as the characters enter the restaurant start snapping you will be surprised at the antics you capture on film.
If you eat early at the Crystal Palace on your way there take a picture of your family in front of the castle, it is likely to be the only photo you will take with only your family in the photo as the park is not yet open!
We are lucky that we have been to
many character meals over the years and now have a collage of the girls from when they were tiny with the characters to present day in their teens.
